Lidstrom to Return to Red Wings
June 20, 2011Each year a slew of new talent enters the National Hockey League threatening to dethrone the veteran stars. And each year, Nicklas Lidstrom has shown that he can withstand the onslaught to defend his position as one of the best players on the ice. After this season wrapped up for the Detroit Red Wings, though, Lidstrom revealed that he was contemplating hanging up his skates after 19 seasons in the league.

After all, they had won Game One and Game Two 2-1 and Game Three 4-3 in overtime. Then, something changed in the Detroit Red Wings, and they have miraculously evened the series at 3-3.

Red Wings First to Advance
April 21, 2011Most teams in the NHL playoffs are facing a back-and-forth battle. The Detroit Red Wings, though, made sure that their series against the Phoenix Coyotes was a lopsided affair. The Red Wings swept the Coyotes in four games, earning themselves a ticket to the next round. The final game happened on Wednesday, April 20 and ended with the Red Wings winning 6-3.

Red Wings Clinch Division
April 4, 2011Sunday was a day for celebration for the Detroit Red Wings. By beating the Minnesota Wild 4-2, the Red Wings were able to clinch the Central Division title, beating out the Nashville Predators and the Chicago Blackhawks (who are the defending Stanley Cup champions).

Ducks Topple Red Wings in OT
March 3, 2011The Detroit Red Wings were making quite the statement with their five-game road winning streak, but the Anaheim Ducks made sure that streak ended at five during their game on Wednesday night. The Ducks managed to take the victory 2-1 in overtime, off of a penalty shot by Bobby Ryan.

The Detroit Red Wings have been putting out an impressive effort lately, like their Monday game against the Los Angeles Kings. The Red Wings walked away with a 7-4 win, their sixth-straight road victory.
