Bills Could Dictate Draft

The Buffalo Bills could have a major effect on the 2011 NFL Draft.  With the third overall pick, Buffalo could hold the key to how the rest of the Top 10 picks unfold.  “Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus and Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers are top candidates,” writes ESPN’s Tim Graham.  ”Gabbert should be on the board when the Bills pick. Auburn quarterback Cam Newton almost certainly will be available.  The two teams drafting ahead of the Bills, the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos, aren’t expected to take a quarterback.”

Gabbert doesn’t necessarily grade out to be worth it at number three, but a lot can change between now and April, and quarterbacks always tend to climb team’s boards as we inch closer to draft day.  Buffalo certainly needs a franchise quarterback to develop, and if they end up thinking that Gabbert is there man I don’t see a reason not to pull the trigger, unless they can move down a couple of spots and grab him.  Bowers would make a lot of sense for a team that hasn’t been able to generate much of a pass rush since Bruce Smith, that’s right Bruce Smith, left town.
