The Green Bay Packers are in the position to win the Super Bowl because of a couple of factors. One is there extraordinary defense. The other would be Aaron Rodgers, who broke out in a major way this postseason and is now a household name. Though he was already considered one of the better signal callers in the league prior to the year, it took a Super Bowl run to finally bring him into the mainstream spotlight. Now the secret is out. But his success isn’t just his own as it gives a blueprint to the rest of the league how to win.
Luckily for the Chargers, they already have their elite quarterback in Philip Rivers. With Rivers, much like Rodgers, the Chargers have one of the top signal callers in the entire league, which guarantees that they will be competitive as long as they have their franchise quarterback healthy. But the Chargers also have to take note of how the Packers have built their defense. When Rodgers struggled a bit during the Eagles and Bears games in the playoffs, it was the Packers defense that made the difference and ultimately helped the Packers move on. Simply put, no matter how good your quarterback is, you need your defense to be able to pick up the slack on days that your gunslinger doesn’t have it. For now, Rivers will have to watch Rodgers in the Super Bowl and hope San Diego finds him a Clay Mathews on the other side of the field.
