Patriots Start with Big Win

Before the preseason even started, the New England Patriots were being called out as one of the teams to beat in the National Football League in 2011. Even though the preseason hardly counts, the Patriots proved they were just that by routing the Jacksonville Jaguars 47-12 on Thursday.

The win came despite the fact that the Patriots decided to rest starting quarterback Tom Brady. Instead, the game featured Bryan Hoyer and Ryan Mallet at the helm, and each had a passing touchdown and no interceptions for the night. The high point total was thanks to multiple rushing touchdowns. Running back Stevan Ridley was the star of the night, tallying two rushing touchdowns as well as a receiving touchdown. Running Back Richard Medlin also added two more rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The other receiving touchdown was by Taylor Price.

Darius Butler led the defense with five tackles. Darryl Richard had two sacks, while Landon Cohen and Jermaine Cunningham each had one sack. The only interception for the Patriots came from Buddy Farnham. Be there to cheer on the Patriots throughout this season by reserving New England Patriots tickets from StubHub.
