Those looking for a show on Monday Night Football certainly got one, as Tom Brady came out of the gates absolutely chucking the ball all over the field. Against the Dolphins in the season opener on the road, Brady ended up going for 517 yards and four touchdowns, easily enough to push the Patriots to a huge 38-24 to open the season. In true Brady form, he spread the ball all over the field, hitting eight different receivers, including Wes Welker for eight catches, 160 yards and two touchdowns. Not only are the numbers staggering but Brady looked just about perfect on Monday, as he was hitting everyone he threw to in the hands against a baffled Dolphins defense.
Though many were championing Aaron Rodgers as the top quarterback in the NFL heading into the season, it’s clear that Tom Brady isn’t likely to go away any time soon. Rodgers is certainly an elite quarterback these days, particularly after running the table and pushing the Packers to a Super Bowl win, but Brady is still the cream of the crop, both in fantasy football and on the real gridiron. Brady will now head with the Patriots home to take on the Chargers, a team that also has an elite quarterback in Philip Rivers. This one could be a big-time shootout.
