McNabb Could Shake Up NFC North
July 27, 2011With the Packers and Bears ready to battle atop the top of the NFC North once again, they could very well have company. Not only are the Detroit Lions continuing to improve as they look to get back in the mix of things, and with plenty of talent to do just that, it looks like the Vikings are ready to add Donovan McNabb to the mix, as a deal is reportedly in place to bring McNabb in from Washington. Though it was a struggle in Washington with McNabb, it looks like it will be a much better fit in Minnesota, a team that absolutely needs some veteran leadership out of the quarterback position.

Bears Sign Undrafted Free Agents
July 27, 2011Now that the lockout is officially over, the Chicago Bears can turn their focus to training camp. They can also focus on signing players who are free agents as well as landing new undrafted free agents. They signed a long list of undrafted free agents. The list, according to ESPN, is below.

Chicago Bears Ready For Training Camp
July 26, 2011The players have approved the new collective bargaining agreement, so now the season can officially commence. For the Chicago Bears, that means heading to Bourbonnais, IL to Oliver Nazarene University for training camp. Training camp will start on Friday when the players will go through physicals. The next two days after that will features practices without pads, per NFL guidelines.

Bears Eyeing Brad Smith
July 25, 2011Even if the Bears don’t make a big splash in the free agency period before the 2011 season, that doesn’t mean they aren’t still going out and trying to find new players that can give the roster a boost. The Bears will be taking a real look at Brad Smith of the New York Jets, a good peripheral player who should be able to help out the receiving corps of Chicago if they can strike a deal. But Brad Smith isn’t just a receiver as he’s also a multi-skilled player who can return kicks and even play a little quarterback if necessary.

Lockout Could Be Over
July 25, 2011For months now, the only thing that has been the focus of the National Football League is the lockout affecting every part of the league. The lockout is due to the lack of a new collective bargaining agreement between the owners and players after the old one expired. As the negotiations continued, speculation began to rise about how it would affect the upcoming season.

Hall of Fame Game Canceled
July 22, 2011For weeks now, there has been speculation that this year’s Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio would be canceled or rescheduled. The reason for the speculation comes from the fact that the owners and players have yet to reach a new collective bargaining agreement, meaning that the season is on hold until those negotiations are settled. The Hall of Fame Game between the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Rams was supposed to be played on August 7.

No Hall of Fame Game After All
July 22, 2011For a while, it looked like the Chicago Bears were going to be playing in the first official preseason game of the season, the annual Hall of Fame game. Now, with the CBA just passed by the owners and awaiting the final passing by the players, the NFL ended up having to cancel the Bears-Rams game that was scheduled for Aug. 7. As teams scramble to get in playing shape with abbreviated training camps, the move makes logical sense and should allow both teams time to worry about putting together the best team possible instead of putting on an exhibition. Though the rest of the preseason is assumed to go on as planned, the NFL still might end up making some other additional changes.

Kreutz Talks About Lack of New Contract
July 21, 2011The lack of a collective bargaining agreement is really throwing a monkey wrench into the normal happenings of a typical offseason. One of the major places where this difference is felt is the free agent market. Most teams would have locked in their players and added new ones by this point, but that appears to be on hold because of the negotiations between owners and players.

2011 Bears Outlook
July 20, 2011In one of the strangest seasons in recent memory, the Chicago Bears shook off their considerable issues and ended up taking down the NFC North, holding off eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay in the process. The Packers happen to be the team that everyone is talking about heading into the season, and for good reason considering how the ended the last one, but the Bears still are in a great position to be a potential thorn in their side. With Jay Cutler rebounding and getting mostly back on track in 2010 after a dreadful 2009 season, the Bears may only be a piece or two away from being legitimate contenders in the NFC.

Moore Hits Court Instead of Field
July 20, 2011Right now, the entire National Football League is on hold because of a lack of new collective bargaining agreement. The owners and players in the league have been in near-constant negotiations to try to reach a new CBA, but a deal has yet to be solidified. Because of this, teams can’t actually hold practices, and players have been left to their own devices in order to keep in shape this offseason.
