Panthers Send Two to Pro Bowl

The 2011 Pro Bowl will take place Sunday, Jan. 30 in Honolulu at Aloha Stadium, pitting the best players in the NFC against the superstars from the AFC for a game preceding the Super Bowl. While more players could be added to the roster soon in place of Super Bowl contending teams, there are currently two Carolina Panthers who will represent the NFC in the upcoming game. Both Jordan Gross and Ryan Kalil were selected as Pro Bowl picks this year, with Gross selected as a starter and Kalil as an alternate.

Gross will start at tackle for the NFC in this year’s Pro Bowl game opposite Philadelphia’s Jason Peters. He’s a three-time Pro Bowl pick, having played selected for the roster in 2008 and 2010.

Kalil, on the other hand, will serve as the alternate for the NFC at this year’s Pro Bowl at center, where he’ll back up Dallas’ Andre Gurode. Kalil is no stranger to the Pro Bowl, either, having been selected for the all-star team in 2009 and 2010.

Gross and Kalil helped secure the offensive line for Jimmy Clausen and the Carolina Panthers this year, and they’ll lend their expertise to the Pro Bowl for the NFC next weekend.
