The Carolina Panthers are moving right along with coaching hires for the offseason, and yesterday they added a new offensive line coach with John Matsko, who was just fired by the Baltimore Ravens. Matsko had a tough job this season with his players keeping Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco upright, but with a sturdy set of O-linemen in Carolina, he could be the perfect candidate to strengthen the Panthers offense.
Before coaching for the Ravens, Matsko was a coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs. He also was with the St. Louis Rams during their Super Bowl run and has coached several college teams, including at North Carolina. It will be interesting to see what Matsko can do for players like elite left tackle Jordan Gross, and how the team reacts to such big changes on the coaching side next season.
In other Panthers news, NFL.com reported that Mike Shula is headed to Carolina to interview for a vacancy with the team’s offensive staff. Stay tuned for more news on that front as Ron Rivera solidifies his coaching lineup.
