Matt Moore Talks Recovery, Future

It’s been so long since we’ve seen Matt Moore on the football field that it’s almost easy to forget about him in Carolina. The Panthers’ starting quarterback to begin 2010, Moore’s season ended prematurely when he suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder and underwent surgery midseason. Moore’s injury left Jimmy Clausen as the Panthers’ No. 1 quarterback, and we don’t need to recap how that worked out for the team. While Moore is still rehabbing his shoulder to get ready for next season, he might not be making a comeback with the Panthers.

Moore’s contract is up, and considering the revolving door of quarterbacks to go through the ranks in Carolina over the last couple seasons, the Panthers could be on the prowl for a new franchise quarterback — either in the draft or by trading for a more experienced passer.

With this in mind, Moore took to his own website earlier this week, posting a reflection on last season and prediction for the upcoming year. He posted: “For next season everything is kind of unknown right now. My contract is up and I’m dealing with that… Obviously I would love to stay in Carolina. But nothing will be set in motion until some other things are sorted out. So I’m just hanging in there, getting my shoulder better and hoping we can work something out.”

The name of Moore’s blog title? “I Would Love to Stay in Carolina.” Time will tell if the Panthers choose to keep him around.
