It’s fall, and that means that it’s football season. But we don’t have to dedicate all of the sports coverage to Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate and the rest of the Irish football players, do we? Nah! Let’s celebrate some of the other fantastic student athletes that are helping to bring Notre Dame athletic glory in every kind of competition. Today, let’s look at the Notre Dame men’s soccer team.
The Notre Dame men’s soccer team is ready for another fantastic season. They opened things up on August 20th, and they’ll play all throughout the fall. You ought to check out the season schedule right here. There are tons of home games to see live, including Big East and non-conference matchups. You can check out a season preview right here, at UND.com. The Irish are hoping to secure their third-straight Big East regular season championship in 2009. Coach Bobby Clark said this of the Notre Dame squad this season:
“This is the deepest group that we’ve ever had. With that can come its own challenges because we have to make sure we use the depth well. That’s going to be a challenge for (assistant coaches) BJ (Craig), Chad (Riley) and myself. It’s a nice challenge to have and it’s one that you really want.”
