Tressel Apologizes, Moves On
March 16, 2011Though it’s unclear exactly what will transpire with the Ohio State football program in the wake of suspensions to some of their key players, head coach Jim Tressel it stepping up and taking the heat. In a recent banquet, Tressel told alumni and fans that he was sorry for the current predicament that they are in, stressing overcoming adversity and moving on. He also added that he’s sorry for the football team being a distraction as the basketball team snags a top seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. The Buckeye basketball squad has been one of the top teams in the nation all season long and seem to have a real shot to possibly cut down the nets at the end of the day.

Nittany Lions to Test Two QBs
March 15, 2011In a gut-wrenching 2010 season, the Nittany Lions of Penn State had all kinds of issues at quarterback. While Rob Bolden got the nod at the beginning of the season, he struggled to limit turnovers while throwing the ball down the field. Eventually, Bolden got injured and Matt McGloin stepped in to guide the Lions down the stretch. Though Bolden has plenty of potential, the more experienced McGloin proved to have a firmer grip on the offense, helping to improve the passing game in the second half of the season. Now it seems that both quarterbacks will have a shot at snagging the starting gig for this upcoming season.

LSU Looks to Get Passing Game Going
March 14, 2011Though LSU continues to have one of the best programs in the country under Les Miles, they haven’t exactly been lighting up secondaries recently. That’s a challenge that offensive coordinator Steve Kragthorpe isn’t shy about addressing. The new offensive coordinator will be looking at three different quarterbacks (Jordan Jefferson, Jarrett Lee and Zach Mettenberger) this spring. Kragthorpe recently said that he believes all three guys are talented and committed, but that clearly he’s looking for one to separate himself from the rest of the pack sometime before the start of the season.

Looking at the Trojans
October 7, 2009Know your enemy. While the Notre Dame forgets who said this classic line fist (was it Mr. Miyaggi from Karate Kid?) we know the truth of it well enough. You’ve got to understand your opponent before you can master him. You’ve got to do your homework before you can ace your exam. The principle is sound. So let’s get a closer look at the Trojans, who will face the Irish in their next game after the bye week.
