The Alabama Crimson Tide scored a major upset when they took down SEC rival Kentucky last night by a score of 68-66. The unranked Tide nearly squandered a 20-point lead, but was able to hang on to defeat the number 12 team in the nation. “It was an all-out effort for everybody,” Crimson Tide forward JaMychal Green told reporters. ”That’s what it’s going to take for us to win games.” Green led the Tide in scoring with 18 points and also chipped in 11 boards in the contest. Fellow forward Tony Mitchell was the only other Alabama player to score in double figures in the game.
UK head coach John Calipari clashed with forward Terrence Jones in the game and said he’s still learning who his go-to guys are. “We had no business being in the game the way we played,” Calipari told reporters. ”Then all of a sudden we have the ball in a one-point game and had a chance to win. I’m learning, who do I go to? We went to the wrong guys.” Jones missed a half-courter at the buzzer that would have won the game, but Calipari alluded to the fact that the play was designed to go to Doron Lamb. “That was to go to Doron, so the other guy just said, ‘I’m doing this myself’ and kind of grabbed it,” Calipari said. ”But that was for Doron, and Doron was open.”
