The number one-ranked Duke Blue Devils are undefeated no more. The Dukies were upset by the unranked Florida State Seminoles in just the third team in Duke’s conference play. The Seminoles took home the 66-61 victory by winning both halves. Derwin Kitchen scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half in leading the ‘Noles to the upset victory. Coach K gave FSU all the credit in the world after the game. “Tonight wasn’t about us being bad,” Krzyzewski told the media. ”They were really good. They played with a verve.”
“We came together tonight,” Chris Singleton, who scored 18 points in the contest, said after the game. ”It just feels good. If we can beat them we can beat anybody.” This was the first loss by the Blue Devils since March of 2010, before they went on to win the ACC and NCAA tournaments. “We have not been in a game like that [this season]. They knocked us back,” Krzyzewski told the media. ”You just learn from the experience. We have a long way to go.” Kitchen was the main man for the ‘Noles in this one. “I just took what they gave me and tried to be as aggressive as possible,” he told reporters. ”When I’m more aggressive we’re a better team than when I’m just sitting back passing the ball all the time.”
