UConn Wins NCAA Title over Butler
April 5, 2011It was an ugly game, but someone had to win. Last night, the UConn Huskies beat the Butler Bulldogs to take the NCAA men’s basketball championship title, routing the Bulldogs in a low-scoring 53-41 contest. Both teams struggled to find the net as the Huskies and Bulldogs participated in one rough dogfight, and in the end it was Jim Calhoun’s crew of hoopsters that won the national title game.

NCAA Championship Game Is Butler vs. UConn
April 4, 2011A legendary roots-deep college basketball program vs. the new red-hot Cinderella team: The UConn Huskies vs. the Butler Bulldogs. Tonight’s NCAA Championship Game is a matchup between these two teams as the Huskies and Bulldogs fight to the finish, and it’s either team’s game to win as the entire nation gets behind either UConn or Butler for the collegiate basketball championship.

That’s the question of the week, but Matt Howard and his ‘Dogs have some competition in vying for Underdog of the Year with the VCU Rams. VCU, the 11th seed in the Southwest, is another Cinderella team this year, and it will all come down to a battle between the Bulldogs and Rams in Houston tomorrow as the Final Four whittles four teams to two for the national title.

Arizona Provides Excitement with Last-Second Win over Texas
March 22, 2011The 2011 NCAA Tournament couldn’t have gotten off to a hotter start. Several games in the opening rounds of NCAA action went into overtime and came down to the buzzer last week and weekend, and one of the most thrilling games of the entire season occurred Sunday evening when the Arizona Wildcats danced into the Sweet 16 with a one-point win over the Texas Longhorns.

NCAA Upset: No. 8 Butler Knocks out No. 1 Pitt
March 21, 2011The first big bracket buster of the NCAA Tournament has officially taken place in the third round. The Butler University Bulldogs provided a shock in the Southeast Region over the weekend, squeaking past the top-ranked Pittsburgh Panthers in the final seconds of Saturday’s third-round game. Butler was up by one going into the final 2 seconds of the game, but in a baffling move with 1.4 seconds left of play time, Butler’s Shelvin Mack fouled Pitt’s Gilbert Brown, sending him to the line.

NCAA Tourney Picks Top Seeds
March 14, 201168 teams across the country are gearing up for the 2011 NCAA Tournament, with sights set on the Final Four in Houston beginning April 2. Top seeds have been selected for the impending tourney, with No. 1 seeds going to Ohio State in the East, Duke in the West, Kansas in the Southwest and Pittsburgh in the Southeast. OSU is the No. 1 overall seed to win it all this year. The Buckeyes, Blue Devils, Jayhawks and Panthers are ready to go as the top picks for the NCAA Tournament, but they’re also now the targets for all the other teams looking to become bracket busters with top-seed upsets.
