Heat Resting Stars as Playoffs Approach
April 24, 2012With Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh dealing with minor injuries, the Miami Heat took a well-deserved night off tonight as they go up against the Boston Celtics tonight. With the Spurs leading the charge on resting players this season, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, and now the Heat get to focus on the upcoming playoffs, where they’ll square up against the Knicks or the Sixers. Though the Bulls will take down the first seed, the Heat has risen as the favorite in the Eastern Conference due to the banged up Bulls roster, namely Derrick Rose.

April 21, 2012The playoffs are right around the corner, so let the guessing begin. Though there are some clear favorites this year, as there is every year, picking the winner of the upcoming playoffs remains as difficult as ever.

NBA Playoffs: Outlook for Top Stars
April 17, 2012The NBA is a star driven league, something we’ll see first-hand with the upcoming NBA playoffs. Here’s a look at top players in the game as they gear up for the playoffs.

Howard, Magic Dominate Heat
February 9, 2012Coming off of a nice win last night, the Miami Heat were off on Wednesday, as Dwight Howard took over inside and put away the Heat fairly early. Howard ended up with 25 points and 24 rebounds to go along with four assists and two blocked shots, giving him one of his best overall games of the season. While trade rumors continue to fly around the league with Howard at the center, he once again showed to the fans in Orlando that he’s capable of dominating great teams like the Heat, a team that is probably the favorite to come out of the East once again this season.

Heat Start Road Trip on High Note
February 8, 2012It’s not exactly the same as it used to be when LeBron James plays the Cleveland Cavaliers, his former team, but for the Heat it meant a chance to a get a nice win before heading on a long and difficult road trip. Despite six turnovers, LeBron still had a very good overall game, netting 24 points, dishing out six assists and snagging five rebounds as the Heat put away the Cavs, 107-91. Dwyane Wade ended up leading the way scoring wise, as he poured in 26 points and had a good night shooting the basketball. Mario Chalmers and Chris Bosh also had strong games, helping give them a strong overall effort that should get them heading on the road feeling pretty good.

Heat Cruise Over Spurs
January 18, 2012If there was any doubt that the Miami Heat had enough talent to win without Dwayne Wade, those doubts were erased last night. After looking terrible in the early going, the Miami Heat turned it around in the third quarter and ended up blowing out the Spurs, mostly on the backs of Chris Bosh and LeBron James, which comes as no surprise. LeBron ended up with 33 points and 10 assists, helping spark the Heat when they were looking pretty ordinary in the first half. But the start of the night was Bosh, who had another very good game down low for the Heat, and also had the defining moment when he went coast-to-coast for a highlight-reel flush to mostly put the game out of reach.

Heat Grab Bogdanovic
June 24, 2011Though the Miami Heat didn’t have a first round pick, they still hope that they’ll get a productive player in small forward Bojan Bogdanovic, a versatile Bosnian player who is said to be able to do a little bit everything. At 6’7″, Bogdanovic possesses great ball skills and a very good mid-range shot, though he is a bit lacking on the athleticism end, which is why it’s difficult to tell whether or not he’ll make it in the NBA. For the Heat, Bogdanovic could be an energy player with a solid jumpshot who can provide a little offense while the Heat look to rest LeBron James. With the amount of wear and tear that LeBron put on his body this year, slowing down his minutes at least a little bit has to be on the Heat’s mind, and Bogdanovic could be a key.

Ilgauskas Set to Return Next Season
June 22, 2011Even if the Zydrunas Ilgauskas didn’t have the biggest impact on the Miami Heat last year, the experience was enough for him to wan to return for a second season. The other former Cav, who has been mostly lost in the LeBron James hoopla, will reportedly exercise his contract option, which will allow him to return to Miami for another season as the team looks to pull it together and make another championship run. The 36-year-old center saw a limited role in the playoffs, most notably the Finals, but could be an important piece of their interior moving forward.

Riley Stays Behind Spoelstra
June 21, 2011Though Eric Spoelstra has had to deal with a lot scrutiny, Pat Riley recently announced that he’ll have time to deal with a little more. In order to squash any rumors that Riley might be assuming coaching duties, Riley explained that Spoelstra is still the man for the job for the immediate future. Riley added that the Heat will continue to contend, which would raise expectations if expectations weren’t already sky-high. Spoelstra ended up guiding the Heat all the way to the NBA Finals, a feat that would be a great resume builder for most head coaches dealing with an entirely new roster.

Cavs Eyeing Irving At Number One
June 20, 2011The last time the Cleveland Cavaliers had the first pick in the NBA draft, they ended up drafting LeBron James, who gave them seven great seasons before bolting for Miami to team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Now the Cavs have the number one pick again and have to try to find a way to rebuild their franchise, which won’t be easy. Early reports are that the Cavs are seriously considering Duke Blue Devils guard KyrieIrving with the first overall pick, which would hopefully give them the franchise backcourt player to start moving in the right direction.
