Lakers Ready to Meet Mavs

Last week, the Los Angeles Lakers proved their dominance by winning their series against the New Orleans Hornets with a 98-80 win on Thursday, April 28. The Lakers won the series 4-2, with the Hornets taking game one and game four.

Now, the Lakers are moving on to face the Dallas Mavericks, beginning today, Monday, May 2. The first two games of the series are at home. Like the Lakers, the Mavericks won their first-round series 4-2. They won their first two games at home against the Portland Trail Blazers before losing their next two away games. They went on to win another at home and the last game away.

The fact that the Mavericks lost the two away games should give the Lakers some confidence heading into the series, although they are dealing with an injury to star Kobe Bryant. Bryant suffered a left ankle injury in Game Four of the first round, but he has continued to play since. According to ESPN, though, coach Phil Jackson admitted the injury is affecting his effort.
