The Los Angeles Lakers had a rough start to their post-season with a 109-100 loss to the New Orleans Hornets. The Lakers were predicted to make easy work of the Hornets, which meant the game dealt some surprises for Lakers fans.
For the Hornets, one of the big stars of the game was Chris Pail, who scored 33 points. Many of his teammates also figured out how to get past the Lakers’ biggest stars. Kobe Bryant did manage to score 34 points, which should have been enough to help spur the Lakers on to the win.
According to ESPN, coach Phil Jackson spoke about the loss and concluded, “Our defense, I thought, was late. I think we were late on everything. They were the aggressors, and they stayed aggressive. … I think they respect the Hornets. I just don’t think they were keyed in on what they have to do.”
The Lakers now get to host Game 2 on Wednesday, April 20 and they will likely be aiming to make up for Sunday’s game. Be there to cheer on the Lakers by getting Los Angeles Lakers tickets from StubHub.
