Lakers Done After Fourth Straight Loss

The Los Angeles Lakers’ dream of repeating their championship run from last season was deflated over the weekend. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks were supposed to face off in a hard-fought series, but the Mavericks instead swept the series in four games. The last two wins were a 98-82 victory on Friday, May 6 and a 122-86 win on Sunday, May 8. Both of those games were home games for the Mavericks, after they won two games in Los Angeles last week.

This season is coach Phil Jackson’s last, as he has said he is retiring. He has “retired” before, but it doesn’t look like he will be pulling a Favre after this season. According to ESPN, Jackson talked about the challenges of this season, “[That] puts a lot of strain on the basketball club from all angles: personalities, spiritually, physically, emotionally, and getting charged up for game after game and assault after assault when you go in and play a team. It was a challenge bigger than we could beat this year.”

The Lakers are now done for the season. Be there to cheer them on with a new coach next season by getting Los Angeles Lakers tickets from StubHub.
