Lakers Had a Good Run
June 1, 2011Though the Lakers still have plenty of talent, not to mention some of the best stars in the NBA, they have some work to do if they want to get back in the NBA Finals. After hiring Mike Brown, the Lakers now move into a new era, one in which they’ll have to find the next piece to push them over the hump. Failing that, the Lakers will likely watch teams like the Thunder and Blazers step up and take over the Western Conference.

Bryant Thinks Lineup Can Win
May 12, 2011Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers finished their season in the second round of the playoffs, NBA analysts have been talking nonstop about what should happen next year. Coach Phil Jackson isn’t coming back next year, but he isn’t the only one who is expected to depart.

Bynum Talks About Suspension
May 11, 2011The Los Angeles Lakers are officially done for the season after losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. For the team’s star center Andrew Bynum, though, he will be dealing with the consequences of the last game of the season for a little longer.

Players Talks About Jackson Departure
May 10, 2011The Los Angeles Lakers are now in the aftermath of a disappointing run against the Dallas Mavericks. One thing seems sure, though, and that is the fact that coach Phil Jackson doesn’t appear to be returning as the coach next year. So far, no one at the Lakers has revealed who the team is eyeing to take over for Jackson.

Lakers Done After Fourth Straight Loss
May 9, 2011The Los Angeles Lakers’ dream of repeating their championship run from last season was deflated over the weekend. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks were supposed to face off in a hard-fought series, but the Mavericks instead swept the series in four games. The last two wins were a 98-82 victory on Friday, May 6 and a 122-86 win on Sunday, May 8. Both of those games were home games for the Mavericks, after they won two games in Los Angeles last week.

Lakers Focused on Goal
May 6, 2011The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a 2-0 deficit in their series against the Dallas Mavericks, and those losses were picked up during two opening home games for the Lakers. Now, the Lakers will have to head to Dallas and face a hostile crowd in order to make headway in the series, but the Lakers aren’t buckling under the pressure.

Mavs Lead Series 2-0
May 5, 2011The Los Angeles Lakers seemed to get the good end of the deal when it was revealed that they would host the first two games in their series against the Dallas Mavericks. That fact seems to have backfired, though, because the Mavericks are now up 2-0 in the series, with the series headed toward Dallas.

Lakers Protest Substitution Call
May 4, 2011The Los Angeles Lakers are still reeling from their 96-94 loss in Game One against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. One part of the game, though, has the Lakers crying foul. It happened with only seconds left in the game when coach Phil Jackson tried to substitute in Steve Blake to respond to a substitution by the Mavs, but the refs wouldn’t allow it. At that time, the Lakers were up 94-93.

Lakers Can’t Hold Off Mav Rally
May 3, 2011The Los Angeles Lakers started out strong in Game One against the Dallas Mavericks, but a rally by the Mavericks at the end of the game stole the win away from the Lakers. The Mavs won 96-94 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, which came after the Lakers led by 16 points earlier in the second half. Bryant was the top scorer for the Lakers and had a surprisingly good game with 36 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block.
