    The Los Angeles Lakers’ dream of repeating their championship run from last season was deflated over the weekend. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks were supposed to face off in a hard-fought series, but the Mavericks instead swept the series in four games. The last two wins were a 98-82 victory on Friday, May 6 and a 122-86 win on Sunday, May 8. Both of those games were home games for the Mavericks, after they won two games in Los Angeles last week.

    The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a 2-0 deficit in their series against the Dallas Mavericks, and those losses were picked up during two opening home games for the Lakers.     The Los Angeles Lakers are still reeling from their 96-94 loss in Game One against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. One part of the game, though, has the Lakers crying foul. It happened with only seconds left in the game when coach Phil Jackson tried to substitute in Steve Blake to respond to a substitution by the Mavs, but the refs wouldn’t allow it. At that time, the Lakers were up 94-93.

  • Lakers Can’t Hold Off Mav Rally

    The Los Angeles Lakers started out strong in Game One against the Dallas Mavericks, but a rally by the Mavericks at the end of the game stole the win away from the Lakers. The Mavs won 96-94 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, which came after the Lakers led by 16 points earlier in the second half.  Bryant was the top scorer for the Lakers and had a surprisingly good game with 36 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block.
