  • Nene Could Opt Out
    May 3, 2011

The Denver Nuggets had quite the late-season surge after trading Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks.  They played as a team and maximized their talent that way, but they do have quite a bit of talent.  One player that was big down the stretch was center Nene, who can opt out of his current contract with the Nuggets this offseason and become an unrestricted free agent.  Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post seems to think that Nene opting out is a very real possibility.  “After nine seasons in the NBA, Nene has full control of his future and it could take hard work for the Nuggets to make him happy enough to return,” Dempsey writes.

In the spirit of March Madness, the NBA experts at ESPN have predicted potential “Cinderellas” in the coming NBA postseason.  Chris Broussard likes the New York Knicks as a potential upset alert.  “New York is probably the most dangerous underdog,” Broussard writes.  ”I know their defense reeks, but in Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire they’ve got two veteran superstars who have been to the conference finals and won’t be overwhelmed or intimidated by the moment.”  The Knicks are a streaky team, so they could take down an Eastern Conference power if they get hot, but they could also get swept.
