Mavs Use Picks for Trade

While everyone else in the NBA is talking about draft picks, the Dallas Mavericks are talking about a trade. That is because the Dallas Mavericks used their two picks in this year’s draft in order to land a trade for Portland Trail Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez. Fernandez has been with the Trail Blazers since he entered the league three seasons ago, and he has been making quite the impact since then.

The Mavs weren’t done with picking up new players, though, and also acquired the rights to Petteri Koponen, who has been a standout in Europe. According to ESPN, the Mavs’ president of basketball operations, Donnie Nelson, said of the two new additions, “Rudy is an athletic, young, exciting player with significant upside. His international and postseason experience will prove to be very valuable. Petteri is a young combo guard who was a first-round selection in 2007 and is developing nicely in Europe.”

Fernandez already tweeted his excitement about the trade. The Mavericks are a team chocked full of talent, evidenced by their title win, and the new players mean fresh talent when fighting for a repeat championship. Be there to cheer them on by reserving Dallas Mavericks tickets from StubHub.
