Bulls Look to Close Out Hawks

After winning a crucial Game 5, the Bulls will look to close Hawks in Atlanta tonight, a task that won’t be easy.  Even when the Bulls played well in the series, the Hawks stayed right with them and showed off their talent and athleticism, which was often overlooked heading into the postseason.  But even with the Hawks giving them some real fight, the Bulls made the crucial plays and locked down defensively in Game 5, which was enough to push them to a 3-2 series lead.  In the game, Derrick Rose was his usual spectacular self, though he got key contributions from Luol Deng and Taj Gibson as well.

If the Bulls can take down the Hawks tonight, they’ll move into the Eastern Conference Finals to play the Miami Heat.  Despite the criticism that the Heat have had this season, they’ve looked pretty dominant in the postseason and closed out the Boston Celtics in five games to move on to the Eastern Finals.  In the West, the Dallas Mavericks remain idle while they watch the conclusion of the incredibly entertaining Grizzlies-Thunder series.  Though the Thunder finally have the Grizzlies on the ropes, the Grizzlies have been one of the surprise stories of the playoffs thus far.  But if the Bulls want to eventually get to play another Western Conference team this year, they’ll have a much better chance if they can take down the Hawks tonight.
