Bulls’ Defense Helps Get Game 1 Win

Though the Heat started off looking very strong, eventually the length and defensive energy of the Bulls eventually came into play, helping the Bulls dominate the second half and win Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals 103-82.  Derrick Rose was hitting jump shots right off the bat to start the game and ended up with 28 points on the night, leading the Bulls once again.  The Bulls have struggled in early portions of their first two playoff series, so this is a very good sign for the Bulls as they continue to look like a team capable of winning a championship.

But as it’s been recently, it wasn’t just the Derrick Rose experience as the role players also had some timely buckets.  Carlos Boozer didn’t have a great game but pitched in 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had an impact on the inside.  Joakim Noah also had a fantastic game, as the center had 14 boards, two blocks, two steals and four assists on the game, all while playing very strong interior defense.  Luol Deng also was a major contributor with 21 points and the Bulls simply played incredibly efficient basketball in the second half.  In quarters three and four, the Bulls had just one turnover and Chicago was able to put away Miami with plenty of time left on the clock.  The Bulls will have a chance to take control of the series if they can win again on Wednesday before heading to Miami.
