Girardi Says Yanks Could Still Use Sabathia
October 22, 2010The New York Yankees are gearing up for their next game against the Texas Rangers tonight, October 22, and all eyes are on whether the Yankees will be able to keep the momentum going after a 7-2 win in New York. One of the biggest decisions for a manager during a high-stakes playoff game is who to put at the pitcher’s mound. So far, one of the names who has been making a mark at that position is CC Sabathia, but since he pitched two games recently, most analysts were expecting him to be out for tonight’s game.

Yanks Stay Alive, Giants Go Up 3-1
October 21, 2010The ALCS is headed back to Arlington, as the New York Yankees bested the Texas Rangers yesterday to force a Game 6. C.C. Sabathia got knocked around a bit, giving up 11 hits in six innings, but limited the damage by surrendering only two runs. The Yankee bats finally got hot, as the team was able to score consistently in the club’s 7-2 victory. Robinson Cano hit another home run, his fourth of the ALCS, continuing his torrid postseason. Cano is batting .421 in the playoffs and has been the only Yankee bat that has produced consistently throughout the first two rounds. Game 6 is tomorrow.

New York Yankees Stay in the ALCS
October 21, 2010The New York Yankees showed that they aren’t giving up just yet in their game on Wednesday, October 20. In the fifth game against the Texas Rangers in the ALCS, the Yankees came in down 3-1 in the series. The Yankees started out strong and kept their lead to top the Rangers 7-2.

Rangers Go Up 3-1, Giants Take 2-1 Lead
October 20, 2010The Texas Rangers took a 3-1 lead over the defending champion New York Yankees last night with a 10-3 victory in Game 4 of the ALCS. New York starting pitcher A.J. Burnett kept it together pretty well for five innings before surrendering a three-run homer to Benji Molina that would put Texas up for good. The Rangers continued to pour on runs as the game wore on. The Yankees are just a single game from elimination and need to find a way to wake up their bats. New York with throw C.C. Sabathia tonight in the hopes of sending the series back to Texas.

Rangers Top Yankees In Game Four
October 20, 2010When the Yankees were 2-1 in the American League Championship Series, New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that he wasn’t concerned. He may be now. The Texas Rangers topped the Yankees 10-3 during Game Four, taking a 3-1 lead in the series.

Yankees Lose Game Three 8-0
October 19, 2010The Yankees needed to win yesterday in order to regain the lead in the AL Championship Series, but instead they came up short against the Texas Rangers. The Texas Rangers managed a decisive 8-0 win over the reeling Yankees, and much of that was thanks to pitcher Cliff Lee. Even before the series started, the Yankees were already anticipating facing Lee in Game Three, and Lee proved to be quite the opponent.

Rangers Take 2-1 Lead Over Yanks
October 19, 2010If Rangers hurler Cliff Lee was auditioning for a job in New York next season, he made a heck of an impression. Lee was absolutely dominant last night in the Bronx, pitching eight innings of shutout ball while fanning 13 batters in leading the Rangers to an 8-0 victory. The game marked Lee’s third of the postseason in which he has struck out at least 10 batters. “I’m not satisfied with that,” Lee said in the postgame press conference. “We still have some work to do here. A lot of fun to come into New York and get this first one. Hopefully we can come out here tomorrow and pick up where we left off.”

Both LCS Tied 1-1
October 18, 2010The Philadelphia Phillies evened the NLCS yesterday with a 6-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Roy Oswalt was brilliant for the Phils, going eight innings and giving up just a single run; he also fanned nine batters. San Fran ace Tim Lincecum outdid Roy Hallday on Saturday to give the Giants a 1-0 lead in the series, and the Phillies surely didn’t want to head to the Bay down 2-0. “I’m hoping for a momentum switch and get back to San Francisco and take the series there,” Oswalt told reporters. The two teams play Game 3 tomorrow.

Yankees Split First Two Games of Series
October 18, 2010The New York Yankees started the ALCS against the Texas Rangers over the weekend and walked away tied in the series so far. The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the series with a 6-5 win on Friday, October 15. The Rangers started off in the lead with three runs in the first inning, and widened their lead to five with two in the fourth. The Yankees started their comeback when Robinson Cano homered in the seventh inning. Then, in the eighth inning, the Yankees managed to score five: one off Derek Jeter’s double, another two off of Alex Rodriguez’s single, a fourth off of Cano’s single and a final run off of Marcus Thames’ single.

ALCS Starts Tonight
October 15, 2010The New York Yankees head to Arlington tonight to take on the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the ALCS. C.C. Sabathia will face C.J. Wilson, as Texas ace Cliff Lee just pitched Game 5 of the ALDS against Tampa Bay. This shift in the rotation for Texas definitely gives New York an advantage, as they’ll only have to face Lee once, perhaps twice, in the series. Sabathia struggled a bit in his lone ALDS start against the Twins, but the Yanks ended up coming back in that game. New York could definitely use a strong outing from their ace.
