  • The Beastly A.L. East
    July 22, 2011

We all know that the A.L. East has two giants that are always ready to fight for the division in Boston and New York, though this year some of the other teams are giving people reason to stop and take notice.  As of July 21, four out of the five games in the division were above .500, with Baltimore being the only team still struggling to maintain a winning record.  Even after losing some major free agents recently, the Rays might be the biggest surprise at 52-45, which normally would be good enough to be right in the thick of the Wild Card hunt.  This year, though, both Boston and New York appear poised to run away with the division title and the Wild Card, no matter who actually ends up on top.

  • Morrow’s Fantasy Potential
    March 22, 2011

ESPN’s Jason Grey lists 10 players that he’ll be looking to land in fantasy baseball this season.  One hurler Grey seems to love this season is Brandon Morrow, a guy that is going late in drafts considering his potential.  “He was limited to eight second-half starts to monitor his workload, but he posted a 3.69 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 13 strikeouts per nine innings in those outings, including a 17-K outing,” Grey writes of Morrow.  ”Taken out even further, he posted a 3.46 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and more than a strikeout per inning in his last 101⅓ frames.  He’s still a bit of a work in progress, but he has the potential to be a top-40 starter this season, and in many leagues he’s not being drafted as such, or even in the top 150 overall.”
