Fantasy Spotlight: Jose Reyes
July 18, 2011Though the first-half of the season could have been an even bigger mess for the Mets, it wasn’t mainly because of the efforts of Jose Reyes, who has reminded everyone that he’s a superstar when he’s healthy. After struggling with injuries over the past couple of seasons, Reyes has come out in 2011 absolutely on fire. As of July 18, Reyes was leading the entire league with a .354 batting average and 30 stolen bases, giving the Mets an explosive leadoff hitter that has really given the Mets a chance to score some runs this season.

Mets Shell Hamels, Beat Phils
April 6, 2011The Philadelphia Phillies finally showed a chink in their pitching armor yesterday when Cole Hamels was shelled by the New York Mets. The Phillies’ fourth starter, a former World Series MVP, gave up seven hits for six earned runs in just 2.2 innings of work in a 7-1 Mets win. It was the second-worst start of Hamels’ career, giving the Phillies their first loss of the 2011 season. “It’s something that happens,” Hamels said after the game. ”It’s frustrating. You don’t want to have games like this, especially to start the season.”
