    March 19, 2012

Even if picking your catcher isn’t always the most exciting pick in your draft, there are always a few studs that can really help your team’s production.  Here’s a look at the top fantasy options for catcher heading into the 2012 season.

  • Thome Belts 600th
    August 16, 2011

Though he’s seldom talked about with the great sluggers, from Ken Griffey Jr. and Willie Mays to Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth, people will be forced to mention Jim Thome as one of the great home run hitters to ever play the game.  On Monday, Thome smacked his 600th career homer, bringing him into rare company that includes just seven other legendary major league baseball players.  In many ways, Thome has always been overshadowed by other players on his team, whether it was Manny Ramirez in Cleveland or Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins in Philly, though he’s still continued to mash from season to season, enough to bring him to a plateau that few have even approached.

  • Morneau Key to Twins’ Season?
    March 8, 2011

Justin Morneau could be the key to the Minnesota Twins’ season.  The team won the American League Central title in 2010 without their first baseman, but the ultimate goal still has eluded this team as of late, despite their consistency.  The Twins got good news yesterday when Morneau, coming off post-concussion syndrome, stepped up to the plate in a “B” game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Morneau hit a three-run double in the game, which is a very good sign for his 2011 prospects.  We’ve seen players retire from post-concussion syndrome, so this is a very serious issue.
