Jurrjens Continues Phenomenal Season

After winning his 12th game of the season to lead the National League, Jair Jurrjens simply continues to impress.  Coming off of a disappointed and injury-plagued 2010 campaign, Jurrjens wasn’t exactly high on the radar of fantasy gurus this this year for a reason.  Though everyone acknowledged his talent, you aren’t a star pitcher until you actually put together a season to suggest that you are.  And now it seems that Jurrjens has.  How good has Jurrjens been this year?  Through 16 starts, Jurrjens has a 1.87 with 12 wins against just three losses.  With those type of numbers, he’s even better than he was in 2009, the year he took everyone by storm by putting up a 2.60 ERA and 14-10 record.

With such a great start, some have even begun to champion Jurrjens as the man to start the All-Star game, which is something considering he pitches in the same division as Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels.  Right now, Jurrjens actually looks like the clear man for the job considering his overall stats and pure dominance from game to game.  But Jurrjens’ isn’t just helping him become get to the stop of the National League stat charts, as it’s also propelled Atlanta to the second best record in the National League.  Despite the tremendous collection of talent in Philly, the Braves have remained just a few games behind and continue to nip at their heels.  With Jurrjens pitching this well, we could see the Braves really challenge for a playoff spot.
