Hudson Outshines Greinke

Last night’s Braves-Brewers game was billed as Zack Greinke’s debut for Milwaukee, but he was easily overshadowed by opposing starting pitcher Tim Hudson, who pitched a complete game one-hitter to secure the win for the Bravos.  Hudson faced just 29 batters on the night, while struggled.  The former American League Cy Young winner lasted just four innings, giving up five runs in the process.  “I guess the end result’s bad. For the most part, I pitched decent,” Greinke said after the game.  ”The way Hudson was pitching it wouldn’t matter anyway.”

It was Hudson’s best performance in his career.  “I’m never trying to throw a no-hitter,” he told reporters.  ”But that was about as close as I feel like I can get.”  Hudson had a comeback season in 2010 and is pitching well in what is probably the twilight of his career.  As for the Brew Crew, it’s certainly no time to panic concerning the performance of their big offseason acquisition.  Greinke is still getting his feet wet this season and should be able to mow down hitters that have never faced him before.  However, if Yovanni Gallaardo can’t right his ship, there could be trouble in Milwaukee in what looked to be a promising season.
