1. Jake Peavy:
Who saw this one coming? Though Peavy obviously was a former stud, many assumed that his career was headed downhill, mainly because that’s what the stats have been saying for a while. But Peavy has been unbelievable so far this year, with a 1.88 ERA and 3-0 record in his first four starts. So far, Peavy looks like the steal of the draft.

Prince Gives Tigers Stacked Lineup
January 29, 2012After a dubious relationship with the Milwaukee Brewers, Prince Fielder is hoping that he’ll end up with a better one with his new team, the Detroit Tigers. The All-Star first baseman was recently introduced by the Detroit Tigers, a team that already had a good lineup and now will get a boost with another big masher in the heart of the order. Though moving Miguel Cabrera back to third base could be a challenge for Cabrera, who was a third baseman back when he was a lot slimmer, it’s hard not to get wide-eyed if you’re a Tigers fan and thinking about how strong the heart of the order will be from here on out.

Cruz Sinks Tigers
October 13, 2011Nelson Cruz is making a name for himself this postseason, and Wednesday night he added another big piece to the story. With the game in doubt in the top of the 11th, Cruz belted a huge three-run homer to put the game away, extending the Rangers’ lead in the ALCS to 3-1. The Tigers had some fight, with Brad Inge belted a huge homer in the bottom of the ninth to push the game into extras, they’ll now have a tremendously uphill battle if they’re to take down the Rangers and scoot into the World Series.

Cabrera, Fister Pull Tigers to 2-1
October 12, 2011When the Tigers desperately needed someone to step up, both Miguel Cabrera and Doug Fister answered the call. Fister went 7 1/3 strong innings, letting up just two earned runs and giving the Tigers a change. And take charge the Tigers eventually did, as Victor Martinez hit a bit homer and Miguel Cabrera belted a big double early on to give the Tigers a lead, one they would never give up. Cabrera would help put the game away too, as he crushed a homer in the seventh to all but end the Rangers’ hopes of pushing the series to 3-0.
