Red Sox Downed By Jays, 11-10
September 8, 2011The Red Sox once again had their bats out in force, but their bullpen couldn’t match Toronto’s as they got some clutch hits late in the game. Edwin Encarnacion was the big hero for Toronto, as he had two big hits in the eighth inning, as the Blue Jays stormed back to take the lead and eventually the win. Encarnacion belted a single to start the eighth inning scoring and then cleared the bases with a three-run double that cleared the bases to give the Jays the lead. Daniel Bard was the Red Sox pitcher on the mound when it all fell apart, but the bullpen as a whole hasn’t been great this month.

Red Sox Bounce Back
September 7, 2011The Boston Red Sox couldn’t do anything offensively on Monday, but that changed quickly as the Red Sox crushed the Orioles 14-0 on Tuesday. While Jon Lester pitched a great game, the Red Sox hit the ball all over the yard, bashing out 20 hits and scoring at least two runs in each of the first five innings. David Ortiz and Marco Scutaro were the offensive stars of the night, each mashing four hits and driving in a combined six RBIs. With the big day, Ortiz raised his batting average to .318, completing a great comeback season for Big Papi, who just a few years ago was considered an elite left-handed hitter.

Red Sox Continue to Mash
August 25, 2011The Red Sox once again put on a hitting clinic in Texas on Wednesday, knocking 16 hits and scoring 13 runs as Josh Beckett was sharp once again. With the win, the Red Sox were able to stay a full game up on the Yankees, who also won at home against Oakland. With David Ortiz getting back into the lineup, it was Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford that mostly carried the way, each belting a homer and putting up big offensive days. Jacoby Ellsbury, as per usual, also got into the mix, smashing his 23rd homer of the season and also swiping his 35th base. Though both Adrian Gonzalez and New York’s Curtis Granderson will demand plenty of MVP talk, so will Ellsbury, who has been the most valuable leadoff hitter in the league this year.

Red Sox Ready for Mariners
August 12, 2011The Boston Red Sox are gearing up for a series against the Seattle Mariners, and one of the questions on just about everyone’s mind for a new series is who will be taking the mound for each team. The Boston Red Sox have revealed who will be on the mound during the series, and right-handed Josh Lackey will start the action out today, Friday, August 12. He will go up against the Mariners’ Blake Beavan. The next game of the series will have the Josh Beckett at the mound for the Red Sox, and Felix Hernandez for the Mariners. The final game of the series, on Sunday, will feature Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield and Charlie Furbush for the Mariners.

Red Sox Start Series with Win
August 9, 2011The Boston Red Sox appear to be on a hot streak, even on the road. They recently finished up a three-game home series with the New York Yankees, winning two out of three games and taking the lead in the American League East. After being at home for two series, the Red Sox now are on the road for a three-game series with the Minnesota Twins.

Red Sox Top Yankees in Series
August 8, 2011The Boston Red Sox had quite the task ahead of them over the weekend: hosting the New York Yankees. The two rival teams faced off in a three-game series over the weekend, and the Red Sox ended up taking the series 2-1. The win put the Red Sox narrowly on top of the American League East standings, just above the Yankees.

Indians Top Red Sox In Fourth Game
August 5, 2011The Boston Red Sox finished out their series with the Cleveland Indians with a 7-3 loss. The Boston Red Sox started off strong with a double by Adrian Gonzalez that sent Jacoby Ellsbury home. The Red Sox took a 2-0 lead with a single by David Ortiz that sent Gonzalez in for the score.

Red Sox Take Series Lead
August 4, 2011The Boston Red Sox are obviously hot right now, based on their performance last night, August 3 against the Cleveland Indians. In front of a home crowd at Fenway Park, the Red Sox topped the Indians 4-3 and took a 2-1 lead in the series.
