Every Game is Crucial for Red Sox

True, many are already whispering about who is to blame for the epic collapse of the Boston Red Sox, but manager Terry Francona had some words of wisdom for his team after another loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.  It’s not over, he mused, trying to push off the criticism and get his team focus on the task at hand.  Tied in the Wildcard race with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Red Sox head into a matchup with the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday night desperately needing a win, as the Yankees could be resting players once again today and don’t have much incentive to beat the Rays.

But there is still plenty of time to prove their worth, as Boston will throw Erik Bedard out there looking for a win that would end up being enough to send them into the final game of the regular season fighting for the right to play in the postseason.  Even Josh Beckett got hit around yesterday by the Orioles, a team that has tormented the Red Sox over the last couple of weeks while many thought they would be doormats for the Red Sox as they headed into the playoffs.  As important as the pitching is that they need to find their sticks in the early going if they want to score some runs on Zach Britton and come out of Baltimore with a huge win.
