O’s Looking Good Early

The Baltimore Orioles are 4-0 and sit atop the American League East Standings.  While it’s easy to chalk that up as a fluke start from the Bird, we could be seeing a major improvement from this club that extends back to the end of last season.  Baltimore fans seem to believe in their team again.  “It was completely different than anything I’ve seen before,” Markakis told ESPN’s Buster Olney on Monday night.  ”Just the vibe at the ballpark, from the first pitch all the way to the end.  It’s something we haven’t seen before.”

Since Aug 3 of last season, the Orioles have been the best team in the AL East, playing a full five games better than any other team in the division over that span.  Manager Buck Showalter, who took over the team on Aug 3, has been a big reason for the club’s success.  “That time seems to be here, now that Buck Showalter is managing, now that the Orioles have a good core of young pitching, in Brian Matusz and Zach Britton, and with a lineup deep enough to compete in the AL East,” Olney writes.  Let’s see if the O’s can keep it up.
